take shelter

Moody and ominous, shelter, Jeff Nichols, "Take the star actor who may have the power to easily access more of the dark at this point in cinematic history: Michael Shannon.

Rotating lid and a heavy wide-eyed, Shannon has the ability of poisonous snakes coiled. Take in the shelter, that vibe is much more scary because it plays a happily married family man who things start to go wrong too.

Is Curtis, who works in the mining contractor who knows what is in a small town in the state of Ohio. And married to Samantha (from the ever-present Jessica Chastain) and has a hearing-impaired daughter, who looks to be about 3, and his wife, who is trying to get cochlear implants, thanks to his health insurance.

But Curtis is having trouble staying focused. And began the existence of these dreams - nightmares, really, for hurricanes that preceded cloudburst rain down what looks like motor oil. In some of these, and he with his daughter, just as they both suddenly threatened by strangers of unknown identity.

Curtis wakes up gasping for air from these dreams, soaked in the first time in the race, then in the urine, having unleashed his bladder. In one dream, his dog suddenly attacks him, clamping down on his arm - and after Curtis wakes up and his arm in pain all day. He begins to feel threatened by the pet friendly it seems, go further than that to build a barn in the open air to it.

Curtis begins believe that after the visions about the end of the world, and trying to block plans to stay there. It takes a home equity loan and buy a shipping container, and then buried in the backyard of his home, turning it into a refuge conduct a complete disaster. However, in the process of trying to protect itself against what is not convinced of the certain doom, he begins his life in physical danger: his job, his friendships and his family.

Eventually, we get an indication of what could happen: visiting his mother (Kathy Baker) in the house where she is a resident. It's quiet and mysterious, so he starts asking her about her past. It suffers, as it turns out, from schizophrenia, paranoid, and that was the beginning when he was age. But while he sees adviser, said he was not willing to admit that he had a victim of the same syndrome.

Is it? Or is it really to make use of some kind of vision for the future? Nichols does a great job to keep the audience guessing, and switch back and forth between life Curtis "and dreams without giving up a lot in a very short time. Disarm main representatives, who play all of this with the quality of the natural make sudden shocks in the wake of one of the dreams of Curtis" that much more effective.

This is especially true for Shannon. He played a variety of characters, explosive and intense, including Undersecretary of the Treasury, the Alden Nelson on the Empire Corridor. The imposition of his head and his eyes scary - and this is high, and Reedy, a little voice can be turned suddenly to the foghorn of anger: Shannon and a variety of tools and know how to unleash their biggest impact. He most feared when it is quieter, although it is not a picnic, when exploded, either.

Chastain holds her own against improvised explosive devices that are Shannon thoughtful performance. It's patient care, but also increasingly angry at being left out of the loop. It's the wife of information needs - and that keeping her in the dark, so it seems that he was ready to blow up their future. Chastain brings surprising strength to the role - the moment when she slaps him stands one of the film the most shocking.

Take shelter is scary, even taking his time getting to this point. Nichols creates a sense of awe, such as this canvas, which paints a picture of Shannon's paranoia and fear with great skill.
